We are excited to announce the release of the Phratry Records documentary from Argo One Prodcutions simply titled, Phratry. Cincinnati’s CityBeat Magazine has called Phratry Records “one of the best modern independent record labels in the region”. Through live footage and interviews spanning the last fifteen years, this movie documents the makings of a truly independent record label and the diversity of the artists it represents. We’re halfway through Summer, and it’s been too long since our last update. So much to catch-up on, and three new releases for you to checkout! We have brand new records from newcomers, The Full Counts as well as The Terminal Orchestra and lifers, Knife The Symphony. Save for a few international orders, all pre-orders for The Terminal Orchestra’s Leave Home Rabbit, have (finally) shipped! Your patience has been much appreciated after several months of delays in production. The newest addition to the Phratry roster is The Full Counts (Pittsburgh, PA) featuring members of Food and Gumball with guest appearance by Don Flemming (Gumball, Velvet Monkeys, Sonic Youth). Phratry mainstay Knife The Symphony has a brand new split 7” with friends Nonagon (Chicago / Controlled Burn Records). Look for those two bands on the road in August / September. August 2014 marks the ten year anniversary of Phratry Records. We are excited to announce a two day showcase taking place at the Southgate House Revival in Newport, KY on October 17 and 18. Shane Chaney of Swear Jar has been spearheading a film-project showcasing the work of Phratry these last ten years. Below is first-look teaser at just some of the live footage complied in this last year. We are very excited to get this out, but will continue to work throughout the remainder of 2014 to release what will hopefully be a worthwhile and interesting document of a DIY label which has maintained consistent output since 2004. Lineup for the October showcase to be announced soon.

Knife The Symphony recently returned home from a ten day tour to promote their new Split 7” with Aperiodic, Mala In Se and Joe 4. Knife The Symphony traveled over 3,100 miles across the Midwest and East Coast with standout shows in Chicago, Oswego, NY and two-days in Philadelphia. Below is a short video of their travels.
