The Shanks (Toronto, Ontario) begin a two week tour in the U.S. tomorrow with post-punk/noise pioneers The Membranes (Blackpool, England). The Membranes formed in 1977 and are thought to have pioneered the avant / art / noise scene which gave rise to bands such Big Black and Sonic Youth. See below for dates / cities:

The Shanks are also celebrating 10 years as a band with a brand new EP aptly titled, “X”. It’s a bit of a mixed bag of material from the band which includes re-recorded versions of old tracks, a cover of The Smiths and a new song from their forth-coming LP, “Prisons Of Ecstasy” which was recently recorded in Sweden.
