Our beloved Redettes (Marquette, MI) will be on the road for the next few days. See Tour Dates for more information. Throughout 2011 The Redettes tirelessly toured the Midwest, East Coast and Great Plains states. Their debut album Ed has been selling steadily and a second pressing will surely be in order in 2012. The record also ranked #4 in the Top 40 listing in the current issue of Big Takeover Magazine. Here’s what BTO had to say:
“...the trio’s [debut album, Ed] is a trans-generational hookup between Joe Jackson Band and New Pornographers… they play refreshingly reductive, rousing pop… they’re upstanding, up-tempo, uproarious, and upstaging other new wave/power pop outfits… they transcend trite indie lyrical fare, too”.

THE STRONGEST PROOF (Cincinnati, OH) is preparing to celebrate the release of their third and final album Paths Will Collide with a whole house show at the Southgate House in Newport, KY this Saturday, October 1st. This will also serve as the band’s farewell performance, marking the end of a 10 year relationship. The new album consists of six songs that were recorded in July, 2011 at New Fidelity Productions (Cincinnati, Ohio) by long time friend and fellow musician Steve Wethington (current member of Mack West, ex-member of Humans Bown Down).
Originally intended for release some time ago, the songs were composed as a newly restructured three piece and kept out of the live set. The goal was to surprise fans and friends with a full-length album’s worth of new material rather than leaking the songs one at a time. Unfortunately, the death of their drummer and best friend Tony Bryant in 2010 brought things to an abrupt halt and a one and a half year hiatus began. After the dust had finally settled, The Strongest Proof decided that it was time for closure, and a decision was made to finish and record the final album. Although it was a difficult journey, the band felt that it was very important to document and share these final moments. The resulting album is the most diverse collection of songs to date. Featuring both Chris Wolfe (ex-Humans Bow Down) and Jerry Dirr (Phratry records/Knife the Symphony) on drums, it consists of stripped down, high-energy rhythms, the introduction of guitarist Tony Roth’s vocals, and lyrics that are much more personal. Although the album is fairly abstract, the ideas of self-exploration and choosing one’s path are reoccurring, resulting in the title, Paths Will Collide.
The new record will be released as a digital-only release which will initially be distributed as an 8.5” x 5.5” full-color download card. The album is currently available for streaming in its entirety via Bandcamp. However, the first opportunity to pickup a download card for FREE will be at the whole-house event on Saturday, October 1st at The Southgate House. All patrons will receive a download card with the price of admission. For those not local to the area who are interested in picking up a copy of the record, “Paths Will Collide” will be available for purchase via iTunes and through BandCamp’s “name your price” option later this Fall.
