State Song works the three-piece dynamic to the fullest, utilizing the keyboard and sampler as accents and alleviating the need for a full-blown Rock configuration on stage. They thrive on luring you into their spacey melodic afterthoughts only to pummel you later with the wrath of stacks and raw power. The ebb and flow of their music combines late 1990’s era Indie/Alt Rock, 1970’s Space Rock, and snarling Post Punk. The band’s lyrical content is full of cathartic analogies digging into infidelity, unrequited longing, postindustrial deprivation of the working-class and revenge. For fans of Sunny Day Real Estate and the early work of Radiohead.
